So many of the St. Paul Family look forward to reading Pastor David’s Daily Devotional blog and people have been asking if we could make it available as a podcast. Yes! We can and we have. Introducing the Daily Devotion from St. Paul Community CUMC. It includes the exact same content that is already in the blog or email but comes in a form that allows you to keep your hands free and your eyes on something else.

I am a fan of the television series NCIS. I also am intrigued by Gibb’s ninety-one rules. Leroy Jethro Gibbs is a fictitious naval investigator played by actor, Mark Harmon. Gibb’s inherited a list of ninety-one rules from a mentor as a means of guiding his decisions from day to day. Included in the list are:

“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collection” (Matthew 18:15-17).

Conflict is nothing new to humanity. Disagreement has been with us since the days of Cain and Abel. Whenever two or three are gathered together, our human differences are certain to arise.

My wife and I recently adopted a pair of Lhasa Apso puppies. They are siblings. We named them Miriam and Moses. All of our pets have biblical names. Such is the consequence of living in a pastor’s home.

Recently, I was rummaging through boxes in the basement and came across a Buzz Lightyear action figure. I purchased the toy for my youngest son when our family visited Disney World several years ago. Buzz was Garrett’s constant companion during his toddler years.
