“Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you” (Proverbs 4:25, ESV).
 

     I discovered an interesting factoid the other day. Albert Einstein is a scatterbrain. I am speaking in the present tense. Parts of Einstein’s brain have been missing and scattered about for decades.

     Following Einstein’s death in 1955, his brain mysteriously disappeared. It seems that an examining physician named Thomas Harvey removed the genius’ brain and took it home to study. Harvey divided the brain into 240 pieces and stored them in mason jars.

“…we know God is working behind the scenes” (Job 34:20, MSG).

     Last spring, an Australian man and his dog were rescued after being stranded in the Pacific Ocean for two months. Timothy Shaddock and his dog, Bella, were sailing from Mexico to French Polynesia when their boat was damaged by a storm. Miraculously, Shaddock and Bella subsisted by eating fish and drinking rainwater.

Daily Devotion July 12, 2023

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land”  (2 Chronicles 7:14, ESV).

     Earlier this year, a Spanish navy ship was sent out to sea to charter new nautical maps. Ironically, the ship lost its way. The Malaspina was exploring an area west of the Mediterranean island of Ibiza when it grounded itself in the shallows. The funny thing about the crew’s ordeal is that the name Malaspina in English means to have a bad feeling.
