When my daughter was a toddler, she grew angry with me for refusing her permission to play in the cold rain. Her response to me was predictable: “I don’t like you anymore, Daddy.”
My reply to Courtney caught her off guard: “Well, I’m going to love you anyway and there isn’t a thing you can do about it.”
Mine was a humble example of an even greater love God has for you. God loves you regardless of what you have done, what you have said, or how you may feel.
Day Two:
Take a few moments to bathe yourself in the light of God’s love for you by slowly reading the passage of Scripture below (five minutes).
Lamentations 3:22-23 ”Certainly the faithful love of the LORD hasn’t ended; certainly God’s compassion isn’t
through! They are renewed every morning. Great is your faithfulness” (CEB).
Now, take the next few moments and ask God to place in your mind someone who is struggling with a personal challenge. Once the individual is identified, reach out and spend some time in listening to what she or he has to
say. Don’t try and fix the problem or interject solutions. Simply demonstrate understanding and compassion. By
doing so, you will fulfill the following “one another” in Scripture:
Ephesians 4:2 “With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love” (NRSV).
